Here I was thinking: Gosh! this open coffee thing sounds awesome, my two favorite things; open - 'cause it sure beats the hell out of closed - and coffee - 'cause its freakin black gold. But then I realized, I work in Lincoln, and I have to be at work eventually on Friday mornings, then I was sad :(. I suppose that's why its OMAHA open coffee.

But on a more serious note, do you guys ever do stuff on evenings/weekends? This whole thing sounds pretty cool!

Hey Nate,

Sorry for the confusion. We are currently just meeting on Friday mornings, but there have been a number of other people who have told me that evenings would work better for them. So I’m talking with one of them and getting ready to organize another weekly meeting probably on Mondays or Tuesdays out in West Omaha that would start around 5 or 6 pm. I hope that works better for you. Let me know.

Thanks,

Who Likes Coffee?

Ok everyone, our inaugural meet-up will be

You can come and go whenever you like. You can either mix and mingle or have an in depth conversation with just a few people. It’s entirely up to you.

While, technically, the Open Coffee organization is about start-ups and entrepreneurs meeting with local investors, I want to keep it open to anyone and everyone. So if you are a designer, small business owner, developer, journalist, etc. come on out. The focus of this group is to meet and talk with other people doing interesting things here in Omaha.

Phil Wilkinson said:

“Imagine it more as a big open lounge where people come and go, talk to others in their industry, showcase demo’s of what they are working on, save the world, and ultimately maybe get some work done and run a few small meetings.”

So this is not just another “Tweet-Up” or anything like that. What we want is a weekly group of people hanging out, talking about and helping one another out with what their working on, and possibly even coming up with a few original projects. So there really isn’t any structure to this event. But that’s what we like about it.

We think the best way for the community to really grow is to meet regularly and exchange ideas.

If you have an apple and I have an apple and we exchange these apples then you and I will still each have one apple. But if you have an idea and I have an idea and we exchange these ideas, then each of us will have two ideas.” - George Bernard Shaw

We hope to see you there.

Where do good ideas come from?
